Americans continue to be disillusioned and apathetic toward politics. Cynicism about candidates and parties is common and voter turnout is low. There has been some talk for changing the election system in this country, campaign finance reform, and term limits are two of the ideas put forward. Proportional representation is an idea long over due in America, if we are truly a democracy and believe in fairness of elections, PR is a system that deserves at least our high consideration, the advantages are clear: more power in just one vote, more fairness in representation and better resistance to the biased drawing of district lines.
