Women in World War II took on many different roles. The war widen roles for women both in America as well as overseas serving their country. In 1939 the depression was still fresh in the minds of everyone. Nearly a third of all Americans had been out of work in 1933, but now the war required everyone to contribute to the war cause. They were there to offer comfort and many were the last view that a dying American soldier had.
