Europeans came to America in the pursuit of property, religious freedom, and the privilege of beginning a new nation. Although the motives of the colonists were comparatively alike, the ways of life were very different. The North believed in the New World as a duty from God, to create a land and covenant His work. The South essentially had the same concept yet they respected women. The contrast between the two regions could be extreme but they also had many similarities. They all arrived for the same reasons of property, religious freedom, and the privilege of beginning a new nation. These differences, however near escalated to become irreconcilable.
