Throughout the book, The Prince, Machiavelli stresses the importance of the wise and intelligent administration of Cesare Borgia in Romagna and suggests it as an example of the way a prince should use his power. Machiavelli regards Cesare as one of the greatest princes ever and he examines this belief thoroughly. Although Cesare made one important mistake, which would eventually lead to his down fall, he was truly a great leader.
