Libya is a country of many peoples. Some have lived there for hundreds of
years. Some have lived there for only a short time. A small percentage of Libya's
population is Arab because of the intermarriage of Arabs and Berbers after the
Arab invasions of the seventh century.
The Ethic Berbers make up a small majority of Libyans. The Berbers have
light colored skin and rugged bodies. They are fiercely proud and independent.

Secular literature is strongly nationalistic.
