Late in life, Newton expressed regret for the algebraic style of recent mathematical progress, preferring the geometrical method of the Classical Greeks, which he regarded as clearer and more rigorous. So basically as a mathematician, Newton invented integral calculus, and with Leibnitz, they invented differential calculus. He also calculated a formula for finding the velocity of sound in a gas which was later corrected by Laplace.
