To many, Charlemagne was perhaps the greatest ruler of all time. Charlamagne was able to create and control one of the largest empires in history comparable to that of the one ruled by Julius Caesar. Charlamagne led many of his armies battle to victory on the battle field himself and was on of the most respected generals and eventually dictators of the time.

life. Charlemagne felt his work for God was done. Sadly, Charlemagne's times as emperor of the west was short lived, he died in 1814.
For many reasons Charlemagne truly deserves the title of great. For he may not of been the best ruler, nearly causing economic disaster. But Charlemagne won so many battles and
expanded his empire to such a large area but most importantly, Charlemagne did it himself, something which cannot be said of Ceasar.
