during this decade the achievements have never been greater on a country as a whole, and on a political system. Before this decade, the meaning of democracy had not yet been defined to the American people. However this was the beginning of many future accomplishments. This decade awakened the people of the United States out of their traditional sleep, and the aspiration for a truly democratic government and society had never before seemed so real.
