With every injury it is important to remember that the athlete will be affected mentally. Not all athletes will act identically to the same injury. are just a basic outline for how an athlete may react to their injury and how the athletic trainer may be able to help. It is important that you not only treat the injury, but also the whole person. An athlete who is mentally not prepared to return to play is more likely to re-injure themselves. In providing for this aspect you can better insure that the athlete is completely healthy and ready to return.
