Among the factors which caused the unification of Germany, including position of Prussia, the Zollverein and the economic unity, the growth of liberalism, together with the able leadership and foreign policy of Bismarck, nationalism was just a contributing factor. Although the nationalist movement had its significance, it was not the most important factor which cause the unification process in Germany.
