You have the right to remain silent, anything that you say may be used against you in a
court of law, you have the right to talk to a lawyer and have him/her present with you while you
are being questioned, if you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before
any questioning if you wish.

made. We hold that Miranda, being a constitutional decision of this Court, may not be in effect
overruled by an Act of Congress, and we decline to overrule Miranda ourselves. We therefore
hold that Miranda and its progeny in this Court govern the admissibility of statements made
during custodial interrogation in both state and federal courts.
