I write this paper on behalf of the Maquila Solidarity Network, in order to draw further attention to the treatment of female workers in Mexican Maquiladoras. There are close to a million maquiladora workers in Mexico and over three thousand factories. Many of the workers are girls and young women from 14 to 20 years old. Wages are extremely low and barely cover the cost of living for most workers, and finally, female workers face daily harassment from other male workers, especially those in a position of authority. These issues can no longer be ignored, as they will continue to grow, affecting more and more people.
