it is important to note that different societies approach the idea of individual liberty differently. To some, the community is of paramount importance and people make their decisions based on what the community approves. This is how they promote their happiness and to some extent without community they don?t experience true happiness. To Mill happiness comes when the self-will of the individual is promoted and that the society should not interfere with individual liberty.
