There is no doubt that Homer definitely can improve; however, he does give an effort to be somewhat helpful and considerate. Also, it takes a lot of strength to fight temptation in order to do the right thing, so when Homer accomplishes this, I consider it to be quite admirable, possibly even virtuous.
