Musicals have changed over the years. In the past, many movies were filled with light-hearted singing and dancing that entertained audiences on the big screen. Most were family flicks that could be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. But times are different now and so too are the musicals. But on a more thematic level, it is about acceptance and respect. The plot and dialogue point out the importance of overcoming one's insecurities, facing one's fears, and coming to accept one's reality. Through all of these factors, this modern age musical lends itself to be quite appealing to today's audiences.
