The importance of weapons hasn't decreased a bit. Even though everybody knows war is not the best solution to a problem it is sometimes the only possible solution. The evolution cannons and guns went through during the Elizabethan Age was significant. Weapons went from getting their power from simple machines to getting the power from a mixture of potassium nitrate, charcoal, and sulfur.
