Manifest Destiny
The idea of Manifest Destiny was based on the idea that America had a divine providence. It had a future that was destined by God to expand its borders, with no limit to area or country. All the traveling and expansion were part of the spirit of Manifest Destiny, a belief it was God's will for the white man to expand and civilize the North American Continent. do think that some fore fathers did see themselves becoming a colonizing power like that of the British and French so with all this land it made the country whole and they decided not to push southward into Mexico or Northward into Canada to take land for the United States.
