The structure of the nucleic acids DNA and RNA.
A)Briefly describe the structure of the nucleic acids DNA and RNA. (6) B)How do their differences in structure suit the different roles in which they play in living cells. (10) C)What is meant by the term 'the genetic code' (4) a) DNA are much the same in a number of aspects. Both are built up of large polymer chains of nucleotides. DNA is much longer than RNA (DNA-1 billion base pairs and RNA - 10,00 bases) …showed first 75 words of 780 total…

…showed last 75 words of 780 total…I spoke about before. They code for all twenty amino acids which will be binded together to produce proteins. They are set out in triplets (codons) which code for specific amino acids. This triplet code was proved by Crick's frame-shift experiment. The code in DNA is redundant because there are more codes than amino acids, it is degenerate and contains no gaps. To mark the end of a protein code, there are stop codons placed.
